Dr. Strangelove. It's not really a combat type of war movie, but still a war movie. Classic.

My all time favorite war movie is 'Glory' I thing the actors portrayed the characters well.

On a serious note, Saving Private Ryan is my favorite, but from a comedy standpoint, Stripes is my favorite.

Can't say which is my fav but Patton, Big Red One, Apoc alypse Now, Kelly's Heroes. and the Great Escape are great ones (along with others that aren't immediately coming to mind....)
