A backdoor trojan was downloaded on my computer yesterday. I currently have Webroot and downloaded the anti-virus after the virus was already on my computer. I ran the Webroot and it said it quarantined several different trojan files. 1. Is my computer safe now? 2. Do I need to do a system restore? 3. If I do a system restore, how can I backup the upgrade on my webroot for the antivirus? I know this is cram packed with questions, but I just want to make sure that I'm not doing anything to screw my computer up!!! Thank you for your answers....

Yes, you should be alright now that it is quarantined. If you do a system restore and the last save point already had Webroot you should be ok or just reinstall Webroot again and grab the latest updates.

Every different thing you do to a computer creates a different restore points, there not always there when you need them,Backdoor trojans can make themselves invisible by encrypting their filenames and some antivirus programs cannot recognize them, multiple scans daily for atleast 3 days will work and updating your antivirus definitions is a must.do your scans in safe mode,

Your computer should be safe if the trojan horse has been quarantined. I don't think a system restore will remove a virus once it's on your computer, But if you do one, it should hold your updates. You must update your AV regularly to protect against infections. (Try using automatic updates if your AV has it) A good AV, updated regularly, should grab anything that tries to attack.

If the software quaratined the trojons you have to go into the software and delete it. Then reinstall windows, it will not erase the hard drive, it will install over top of the existing one. You will have to try out your programs because in order to get rid of the trojan it may of had to delete certain files to run them so don't be surprised if you have to reinstall a few drivers or programs. Take care Heather
