we have been dating for months, both in our 40's - are great friends & have now slept together, but he seems to have trouble with erections - first time was touch & go, second time no go - says it's him not me - says it's harder for him in the beginning when he has deep feelings for someone - should i believe him or am i just not doing it for him?

By all means, believe him! I'm sure it's really difficult for him to talk to you openly about this problem even after a few months of dating. Just stay positive and don't blame him. Perhaps it's an issue of being relaxed around you...performance anxiety. If you treat it like it's a non-issue it may be easier for him to relax and let nature take its course. Don't put any more pressure on him by continually asking him what you can do to make it better. Be confident in yourself and don't make him feel worse than he probably already feels about it by calling more attention to it. Hopefully your confidence in him will give him the confidence too! Good luck!
