Melt crayons and use as paint and grate them and iron on canvas and maybe it will have a stained glass type effect! You can try it on a small piece first, at least you'll have a wide aray of colors to choose from!

If you're going to work on canvas you could hit the second-hand stores and look for all kinds of vintage do-dads, like buttons and hair combs and old black and white photo's, old labels, gloves, feathers, old small lace hankies, magazine covers, ties (the list is endless) and glue these on to the canvas.
They also make a product that is like glue but you can use it to build up around some of your buttons etc. I think it's called Modge Podge. It dries clear and you can mix it with paper or some dried bamboo stalks or twigs . Start out with a plain piece of paper the full size of your project first to get an idea of how to lay things out.
As you start laying things down in place you will start to get ideas and then your brain will just take off with inspiration. Then get that canvas out and go crazy. What an awesome fun project to do. I'm soooo jealous.

Actually, I kinda like the design in the picture. I would paint the canvas in a beige color and paint a single tree on the canvas sections. Use stamping for the leaves - get different size stamps for different size leaves. Use various shades of green to create a more realistic look. I really like earth tones.

A taste of exotica

If you're looking for something a little different, check out Korean vintage screens, which make unusual, interesting room dividers. In fact, the eye-catching designs can become a focal point in your space. The screen styles are inspired by Japanese and Korean designs and can be incorporated into many different areas of your home décor. They're easily customized with different colours and textures of translucent rice paper, which allows light to filter through, but still offers some privacy.

I did something similar with a photo of my son. I blew up portions of his face so that only one feature fit on a section. i.e. an eye, or mouth, or ear, or dimple. In one project, I overlapped the images to form a kindd of moder/impressioninst version of his portrait, and in another, I just used the individual pieces in a collage of sorts. If youplan ahead, your can mae each canvas section detachable, so you can move the squares around and change the feel of the whole thing whenever you want.

Different quotes, in different fonts and colors... make it inspirational or even quote your friends. Let guests add to the quotes as they visit. Paint each canvas a different color then attach them to make a big tile square and then get some spray paint pens in contrasting colors and go to town. It would be a great conversational piece as well as a hanging bored of life lessons and advice. To fill in holes where quotes are glue dried flowers, or other artful pieces that complement your room and the quotes.

There's a cool room divider at Ikea that has a light in it, so it adds light and is nice looking. Also, it depends on the style of your room, but if you go to Cost Plus World Market they have some cool Asian style and kind of African style room dividers. I really like the simple squares like windows that have paper in between them. One other thought would be a cushiony room divider, kind of like a headboard but with the hinges. I would recommend a soft beige fabric and you can make your own buttons using the scraps from the fabric. That would add texture to the room.

well, u can paint it with beautiful designs and if u r worried about that u r not a good desinger( Im sorry if Im wrong),then u can take help from unnoticable things, like desings from the cover of any book,ur bedsheets, sth related with ur curtains,calenders,cartoons..anything.If u r not confident or confused how to start it,then trust me,once u start,u'll go smoothly automatically. Or,u can just write ur & ur family members' name with comments in a rhyme, each stanza randomly placed & with different colors. That will the divider a colorful look! After painting (when it is dry),apply some transparent glue on it and then blow glitters immediately. The glitters will stuck on it.I hope u like my idea. One request:could u please let me know if u liked it or not?

What about a collage of different stones or glass pieces/tiles hot glued? Play around with the design on the floor before putting it on the divider. Maybe use paint (i prefer oils) and stone/glass pieces together?

It depends on the decor of the room they'll be in. I'd paint Japanese words on one side and, maybe, decoupage a Monet poster on the other. That way you could have two different styles just by flipping the divider.

Really, it's up to your taste in home decor.
