Based on what you have said here, it sounds as though you have badly sprained your foot or ankle. Bad sprains are nothing to take lightly... the quicker you get it treated, the better off you will be. The last place you need to be right now is at school, when you can't even stand to put weight on a foot that you just injured. Here is what you do... get the school custodian to bring you a roll of duct tape. Duct tape the hell out of whatever is causing the crutches to fall apart, and then use them to get headed through the doors of the school, and to the house!! KEEP ALL WEIGHT OFF OF THAT FOOT!!!

The first thing that the nurse should have done was to give you an ice pack and had you elevate your foot and ice it down for at least 20 minutes. This should be repeated several times today. It sounds like you may have sprained some ligaments in your foot or possible strained a muscle in the foot itself. Either way you should follow the RICE principal. Rest, Ice,Compression, Elevation. If the pain does not subside in 2 to 3 days consult your physician and make an appointment with a Physical Therapist. Hope this helps.

Go home. You should have your foot elevated and on ice.
Your foot has quite a lot of bone so an xray wouldn't hurt if you find it gets worse and starts to swell.
It will stiffen up too and seem more painful by tomorrow but it's most important that you stay off it TODAY and ice it and keep it up so it doesn't swell. Immediate action is the most important and rest it a few days at least, tomorrow start rotating ice and heat.

You should go home IMMEDIATELY and tell your parents that you NEED to see a doctor ... you don't know what, if any, injury you have in your foot, and if it is a small bone that is broken, it may need to be 'set' or the 'broken ends' could 'tear up' your foot on the inside and cause much 'worse damage' and also be much harder to heal. If it is just a 'bruise' then you may simply need to treat it with ice and 'elevation therapy' (resting with your foot above your heart) ... but ONLY A DOCTOR can tell you for sure. Since the nurse gave you 'crutches' I think that your 'injury' is 'bad enough' for you to 'go home' and to 'see the doctor.'

Get a good pair of crutches and meanwhile try to keep that foot elevated.
I'm not sure why the nurse said for you to go home: It's your foot that's been hurt, not your mind. And it's not like you're sick.

I would go home only because you need to be icing the ankle and it may be alittle difficult to do at school. If the crutches are not working, this is not doing any good to your ankle either. Thats what I would do, but its hard to say because you are the one feeling the pain. I would get it checked by a doctor whether its right now or after school. If its sprained, he may suggest wrapping it for support.

I would definitely first try to ice the area. If after about 15 minutes, you don't notice a difference, I would recommend going home since the crutches you're trying use aren't actually providing you with any sort of real assistance.

The gym is just a place to exercise, just like a restaurant is a place to eat. You can eat the same foods you can at the restaurant at home if you are willing to take the time to cook. The same goes for exercise. Staying fit is all about consistency and persistence, not where you exercise. There are many exercises that you can do at home with weights, just look up "free weight exercises" on google.

Try and keep off it. Keep it elevated when possible. If it is swelling, put some ice on it. Otherwise, if it starts to bruise badly or the pain gets worse, get it checked out. Otherwise, stick it out at school.

Its never a good idea to work through an injury; often times it only make the problem worse. It won't heal properly if you keep damaging it.
