A noun can be any of the following :

An animal e.g. dog, cat etc.
A person e.g. Clare, Peter, mother, child etc
A place eg. London, Wales, etc
A thing eg. pencil book paper, desk etc.

Any noun that starts with a capital letter is called a PROPER NOUN eg. Clare, London

A pronoun is a noun that is used instead of the noun, for example, instead of saying Clare...we might say SHE, (she is a pronoun)

There are collective nouns which describe groups of things, eg. pride of lions

A Verb is a 'doing' word eg. bake, walk, run, laugh, sit
So whatever can be done, the action of DOING it is the VERB

An adjective is a word that DESCRIBES the noun eg. Clare is clever. Clever is the adjective (It is the word that describes the noun - Clare)

Other examples of adjectives are sunny, merry, simple, shiny, colourful, pink, red, yellow etc.

Finally a sentence to give examples :

Clare waved at the stupid postman

Clare (noun)waved (verb) stupid (adjective)

Hope that helps.

Yes, you are corny...hahahaha... But a very nice corny kind of thing. Gets the seriousness out of YAP somehow with all those nerve-wracking questions we have seen so far. At my age, Love is a noun - no longer a verb. It is this feeling that I have for my husband (and I hope he does, too) and will continue till we are both too old for the loving. When love is lost...it depends on a lot of factors. But in my case, I don't think I will ever find another love. One is enough for me. If I were younger, maybe...for companionship or just to have someone who will take care of me and vice versa.
