Why don't you do a google search for the nobel prize winners and select that person for science and technology. For arts and culture you could look at Spike Lee or someone else for their documentaries on Katrina.

For science and techonology, you should write about the founders of Google, they have really changed the way people use the Internet
For arts and culture, I am not sure about for 2006 but choose someone whose art inspires you rather than just because someone said it was good and inspiring

George Bush... don't shoot I'm just kidding!
seriously, for art you should do Chuck Close. He's a photo realist and his stuff is amazing, he is paralyzed from the neck down I think and he still paints.
I can't think of a good one for science, good luck.

a) Me. My myriad answers to society's most difficult conundrums are well documented here on Yahoo Answers. Be it theories on the afterlife or "am I fat," I'm here to help.
b) Me. When I see technology, I think "how can I use the powers this gives me to help people?" Like my notebook, which I use to answer questions.
c) Me. My contributions to poetry and dirty limericks are too numerous to mention. The Queen should knight me.
In short, I recommend you pick me.
