I agree that to square a number you must multiply it by itself. In a fraction you must do it to the numerator and the denominator.

2/3 x 2/3 =4/9

(2/3)^2=4/9

(4/6)^2=16/36 which reduces to 4/9

Fractions are fun little guys, don't let them intimidate you.
Square any number by multiplying it by itself--that includes fractions. So, (4/6)--I would say (2/3), but that's just me-- squared would be (16/36), or (4/9).

Easy. Your answer is going to be a fraction. First, take the top number of the fraction (the numerator) and you multiply it by itself. That answer is going to be the top number (numerator) of your answer. Next, multiply the bottom number (denominator) by itself. That number is going to be the denominator of your answer.
For example (2/3)^2=
the number times itself(2/3)*(2/3)=
top times top over bottom times bottom(2*2)/(3*3)=4/9

Hmm if you have a calculater handy then it does it for you. There should be a button that says abc on it and using that you can type in a fraction. You put the first half of the fraction the push that button and then the other half. E.g
1 (abc) 6
one sixth.

Just put the square sign before your fraction and bobs your uncle :) x.x
