Since 1992, 45 states have passed or amended legislation making it easier to prosecute juveniles as adults. The result is that the number of youth under 18 confined in adult prisons has more than doubled in the past decade. This phenomenon is challenging the belief, enshrined in our justice system a century ago, that children and young adolescents should be adjudicated and confined in a separate system focused on their rehabilitation.
My humble opinion....but if you want to do the adult crime...you do the adult time!

Yes and no----they can go to prison. Usually at age 15 the State can charge a juvenile as an adult depending on the crime. But often, once they get to prison, they are separated from the adults.
If they are charged as a juvenile, they go to a detention facility.

Yes, depending on the crime and whether or not they are tried as adults, but that's up to a judge both at pre-trial and the sentencing phase.
Of course if you can't do the time, then don't do the crime!!!!!

you must men young boys? yes they can if they commited an adult crime. also remember that there are levels in jail to not mix violent ofenders with petty offenders . regardless of hardship if it is a young boy hopefully he wasnt mischarged and he must learn that all action has areaction and later in life he will make decisions based on this bad experience. remember life only gets harder when you find yourself without family

If he is 18 or 19.
It also depends on the crime too.
Dealing with some of these 17 year olds is not like the sweet apple pie image you get in their mind.
Some are tough criminals.
