My doctor said put it in on Sunday, but I believe you can put it in any day according to the instructions. I quit using it because the hormones messed with me too much. I had that problem with birth control pills and the doctor said that nuvaring is much less likely to do that. It affected me less, but still not anything I wanted to put up with. And my insurance didn't cover it, so condoms are MUCH cheaper.

I am a current user, I've used it for almost 4 years. I DO love it! I've only used it on it's 3 weeks in 1 week out cycle. My periods have been MUCH shorter (3 days w/ the ring compared to 5 days when I was on the pill)
I love the Ring because the pill made me sick every day, but I only feel a little sick the first day I put in my Ring. I have no real complaints about it, except the week before my period (week 3) I can feel the Ring, especially in the morning, but other than that, no serious complaints. I hope this helps good luck!

I've been using the Nuvaring since Sept 06 and I'm very satisfied. You insert it on a Sunday and take it out on the third Sunday. Your cycle should begin a couple days after you take it out. If you forget to take it out on the 3rd Sunday you are still protected. You insert the new ring on the Sunday after your cycle is over. (Using condoms is still recommended while on Nuvaring).

It easy to insert, you don't feel it at all. Its also easy to take out, you hook it with your index finger and dispose of it in the the packaging it came in.

As far as sex goes..it doesn't interfere, althought there may be a time when your partner may feel it..its okay, just push it back a bit and enjoy!

I LOVE the nuvaring!!! Your doctor will tell you when to insert it. The best thing for me is the fact that you can't feel it inside of you, that ti's easy to remove and replace, that it is small, flexible and effective, and that it is a once a month and forget it type of contraception. Follow the directions and you'll be fine. I sometimes would move the insertion and removal dates around, like if I was on vacation or something and wanted an extra few days before my cycle. That worked fine, but I started to get soreness in my legs and thighs when I did it so I don't recommend it.

You can put it any day and be protected after 7 days if perfect use.

If you're currently on pills, but it in not more than 7 days after you take your last active pill and you're protected immediately.

I used Nuvaring for about two months and while I loved the convenience and the ability to manipulate my period easily, I still had the same problems I had on other types of hormonal birth control.

Everyone reacts differently to hormones, but I wish you the best of luck. :)

When you put it in you need to wait 7 days to have unprotected sex... you need to have it in for the whole cycle, when you remove it you'll have your period, then when it's over you need to get a new one in, this time you won't have to wait.... It is great i love it. The little box has a booklet full of answers... Good luck.

Current user, I love it!

My day in/out is thursday, basically because it takes 3-4 for my period to begin, so it usally starts mondayish and over by thursdayish, so weekends are period free!

you can put it in basically anytime, 7 days in and your protected. I wouldn't suggest putting it in the first day of your period. It has been my experince that it kinda makes my period longer.

Welcome to birth control freedom!
