Not a good idea. Comet has bleach in it, and it partly works by scrubbing. So not only will it not work on your carpet, chances are good it will actually discolor it.
Now, just this past weekend, I heard something very interesting about how this one lady uses 4o9 as a carpet shampoo, and it will get out even the most stubborn of red clay mud. And won't damage the carpet.

NO!. even if the carpet is white, it would have a green glow to it for months.. It would be to hard to get the comet out..
Go rent a carpet cleaner and use what shampoo they recomment in it.. If you want to do just some stains and have a wet/dry vacuum just soak the spot with resolve and vacuum it up .. To rinse the area, just pour alittle water on it and vacuum that up.. Then put a towel over the wet area and don't walk on it until it is dry..
Good luck!!

I would not advise you to because they have bleach in them. There are many carpet cleaning stuff out there or try dawn.

I wouldn't try it since Comet contains bleach and you might just end up with a big white spot.
