I was just wondering about something. Can autistic people be psychopaths? I have been trying to find out but there haven't been cases of this. I have autism and people call me a psychopath even though I'm not one one bit.

The word "psychopath" refers to an individual with no superego or conscience. Because of this deficit, the person often engages in extensive antisocial behavior.

According to Asperger's. definition, autism is a form of psychopathy; but the clinical picture is usually much lower on the level of socialization scale and indeed; most highly socialized individuals expressing autistic spectrum disorders exhibit behaviors nothing like a psychopath while the individuals exhibiting less socialized behanviors have more of a pervasive or profound set of developmental disorders.

The classical psychopath typically exhibits what appears to be advanced social development which may mask their actual pathology.

Having psychological pathology does not necessarily make you a psychopath. I would not be concerned with those expressing such generalized and unqualified summaries as they are much in the way of over simplification of extremely complex issues which cannot be adequately stated thusly.

I dare say that your very questioning of this classification exhibits both superego (the morality principle) and conscience (motivation deriving logically from ethical or moral principles) which are characteristics you would not have were you a psychopath.

People can be cruel. Those with the least information about any particular condition can be the cruelest of them all when involved in matters appertaining thereto.

A psychopath is a person who is mentally ill or unstable. Especially one who exhibits amoral and antisocial behavior. Autism is psychological but it shows a person to be more self absorbed especially into more of a fantasy world. There is no likenesses between autism and psychopathology. You'll find that most inmates in prisions these days are psychopaths. They cannot control their impulses to do the terrible things they do . Autism, I have found, is interesting. A lady I know who has autism is very quiet and shy, but when we start a conversation about dates and times, she recites years worth of dates and things that have happened on those dates. And she is so happy when we do this. Don't worry about what people call you, it's their stupidity. You are a normal person with a special gift.

just a terminology issue. Psychopaths by definition are those lacking a moral compass, or lacking empathy. An autistic person could be that way also, but not by definition.

Everybody and anybody can be a psychopath. We humans have only a shallow grasp on sanity.

I can break it down for you, if you want. A psychotic thinks 2+2+5
while a Nuerotic knows that 2+2=4 but he's not at all happy about it!! Good Luck!! @8-)
