A nice soft perfume is always nice that has vanilla in it. I find the real spicy ones to be quite strong. I guess it all depends on a person's personal preference?
I tend to like the perfume oils because they last long and you can find a variety of them.
If someone you know is starting to wear perfume for the first time I would recommend the oil perfumes from the body shop they are really nice the vanilla is my favorite because it's light and not over powering as much.

There are many perfumes that have been popular but it all depends on the individual it all has to do with a persons body oils.
That's what I find funny is that when you go to check out perfumes they spray it on a piece of paper,what you have to do is get a few samples take it home and try them out and see what one you get the most comments on when you go out.

My personal favorite is Lovely by Sara Jessica Parker. It's fresh, clean and well, lovely! It's not at all over-bearing and it's very classy. I actually was never a fan of purfumes at all because the smells would eventually get to me, but this one does the trick.
I've also been considering investing in CK's Euphoria becdause it's also very light and fresh, but also a little sweet. So the two together would be a nice little collection.

I love sunflowers...and new west if you can find it anymore, they are both great, don't cost a fortune and are clean and bright smelling yet understated and don't enter a room before you do..(big no-no w/perfume)
not bragging here but I could afford to buy any thing I wanted,( uncle is wholesaler in the buss.)
those are my favorites...tyr it you'll love it..smells good on anyone
