i was the same way. i just wanted to be on the pill to make my acne go away. they put me on seasonale. (where you only get your period every three months.) but i did spot which was annoying. so quit taking it plus it made me crave food 24/7. then i got put on ortho tricyclone low. it was horrible. i became so depressed and even thought about suicide which is not like me. Yes, both of them did clear up pimples and made my periods better but its not worth the emotional battle. i couldnt believe how much ortho screwed with my hormones. and i've had a couple of other women say they became extremely depressed after ortho as well. once i'm married i'll try yasmin cause i heard its the best. but if i were you i'd just go to a dermatologist and have them help with the acne. birth control just isnt worth it if you arnt having sex. good luck!

Yasmin - its a lighter hormonal level in it. . those with the higher horomonal leves are the ones that cause weight gain. I used to get severe cramps and occasional acne, my period lasted 8 days!
Now, I don't get cramps at all usually (nothing a tylenol can't help), the acne cleared up, no weight gain, and my period is a little shorter (not much).
So - I would suggest Yasmin, but you need a prescription and this is a conversation you can have with your doctor. If you smoke, you shouldn't be on the pill, and like other people said, make sure to use a condom too, because it won't protect you from any STD's!
Good luck :-)

Please don't mess with your hormones b/c you have acne! Would you rather increase your risk of cancer or have some acne (that is controllable)?
Get ProActive like the infomercial - it works.
Acne is most commonly caused be food allergies, dairy is a big one, also hairspray or other hair styling products.
If you drink 1/2 your body weight in oz a day - I am willing to bet you could clear up significantly in 5 days.
I can guarantee however that your doctor will readily prescribe birth control pills for you with the reassurance that they are harmless; well, just look at the package insert and read the warnings. Doctors are educated by the birth control manufacturers about there safety, guess why...$$$$$ and Doctors only listen to what they are told by pharmaceutical companies

You aren't sexually active, you don't have severe cramps, and you already have a short period. There really isn't a reason to go on birth control. Remember, the hormones in birth control are a big deal to your body...they basically trick your body into thinking it's pregnant all the time. Why do that to yourself for no reason?
It sounds like the only reason you want birth control is because you think it will take care of your acne, which it won't. Only one brand of birth control can do this, and only then there's only a very small chance that it will work. Your best bet would be to see a dermotologist to get the acne treated without flooding your body with hormones it doesn't need.

I took Yasmin for several years before starting a family and it seemed to work the best for me. I have tried everything and it was the best as far as breakouts, mood-swings, reduced cramping, moderate bleeding and over all just an easy pill to take. You can't even really tell that it is in your system. Best of luck.

It looks like you dont want a form of birth control, but something to control your acne. Please don't take birth control to control acne, that is like getting surgery for a paper cut. If you need help for your acne, then try going to a Naturopath or a dietician, and they can pinpoint if you have any hormonal imbalances and can solve the problem naturally, without side effects. Birth control alters moods, gives depression, unwanted side effects and can actually cause acne. Dont use it if you dont have to.

The only birth control that worked one hundred percent of the time is abstinence, though those who speak of the Virgin birth say that it didn't even work then.
Since most don't take that road, then condoms since you want to be careful of ST-D's as well as birth control.
When it comes to taking a pill, you should think about what side effects there are. Research ask your doctor for information about the various options what side effects etc. Then go on-line there are many sites that will inform you as to what side effects are associated with various drugs. What is best for one person could be disastrous for another

Don't screw your body up with hormonal contraceptives!!! You sound incredibly healthy. The side effects of BCPs are *NOT* worth it.

Hi, I can't take pills anymore b/c I'm at high risk for blood clotting but, belive me, I have tried them all.
My favorite was, and the only one I would recommend, Yasmin. I tried it b/c my doctor told me there was no risk of weight gain (a lot of women even loose weight on it) and it can help some women's complexions. I loved it and never had any problems. Good luck!
