He had over 700 grams of diamorphine which can supply 48000+ users.
The amount of people affected directly or indirectly will be over hundred thousands (family, friends and victims of crimes usually commited by drug users)
And all this comes from one trafficker. So do you think the hanging is justified?

Capital punishment have a place in today society. They should be used to punish traffickers and to those who commit a serious criminal offence.
Addicts are not the root the drug problem. The root of the problem are the traffickers.
No Traffickers = No Addicts.
In this scenario, there is no argument for human rights. You should not be trafficking drugs in the first place. No matter how poor you are. You lost your right there.

No matter what I think, you get caught doing illegal things in different countries, then you are subject to their punishment, legal or not, right or wrong, good or bad, that is their country and when there, you go by their rules and if you don't like the rules, don't break the law or go there. Like many years ago when that punk kid did some grafitti in an Asian country and was about to get caned. That was a waste of air time, the punk did wrong, and he knew it, and then crys for mommy. Thats the problem with society, everyone wants an out for the wrong they committed. Maybe some punishments are harsher and seem uncivilized to others, but to them thats their law, like it or leave it. By the way, as for durg dealers, who are poisoning our children and country, need some harsh punishment!!!!!

Its hypocrisy. Mules get hanged together as alleged drug lords from Myamar are welcomed in Singapore. Deterent outcomes are uncertain in complicated societies. the two which way, lives are the two destroyed or brutalised for officers in contact in the judicial execution technique, from the arresting officer, choose, wardens, executioners, medical doctors, grieving families. Many dying sentences are mandatory, The accused could coach innocence, no longer any opposite direction around. we could take an straight forward occasion. you're caught with a packet of gum. The choose tells you to teach to which you probably did no longer import them, and btw any gum above 30 gms is seen trafficking and mandatory sentence follows so the choose hands are tied. All you get is a stupid letter from head of state that your loved ones will discover the conviction unacceptable yet... isn't it obtrusive? in line with threat the family contributors can ebay it for the main stupid letter despatched by using a vip.

Terrorism => death row (Yes)
Murder => Capital punishment (Yes)
Drug trafficking => ?
Illegal possession of fire arms =>?
Offences such as these just cannot be the same gravity as murder or terrorism (massacre) because
1) This African was not caught in the streets selling his load; you cannot convict someone as a murderer when one is carrying a knife or a gun, same principle of logic should applied to the African that's caught carrying drugs but yet to have distributed.
2) The degree and magnitude of punishment does not commensurate with the offence. Reason as above and follows..
3) This law is an overkill and a cheap way to appease the public politically for law and order. (i hope this assumption is wrong)
4) A life is all one has, when it comes to death row all races or nationality should have equal rights, in this case wrongs. If the article that was posted was the whole truth, quote "
German national Julia Bohl, who was convicted for drug trafficking in 2002, escaped the gallows in Singapore when she was released from prison and exiled in 2005" ....how did this happen? How did she gets amnesty?
5) Criminals have rights too, the state law is to protect or punish citizens with analytical jurisprudence and undeniable logic. Meting out too sever and heavy sentencing is not a solution to problem, must say it does have it effects. E.g : Like cutting off hands of a theft or castrating a rapist because they're criminals and criminals loses all rights but are these humane ways of punishments? Hanging is equally despotic.
If law still advocate such doings I think this law is outmoded in this century and needed update to keep up to human rights to amnesty internationally. It's right to up hold justice but killing criminals for offences like this could just tip the scale justice.
