Friend in jail, we got an attorney friend that can get all his mess cleared up for 1000.00. He has been there for two days and the wife will not return our calls. We left a message for her to call us but did not say why yet. Should we assume she does not care or should we keep calling or just get him out? We wanted to see if she had the money and if not then we would put our money together to help. I know she works and goes to school & thats all. I am a woman & I know she might not like me leaving a message but I think I have a better chance at getting her to call back me back. I also am the only one in our group of friends that knows where she stays, because I followed her husband home one day when he was drunk.

I'm sure by now between him calling her, his family calling her and you and your group calling her she knows he's in jail. I wouldn't say that she doesn't care it sounds like she's teaching him a lesson. She probably feels he shouldn't have been out doing whatever it was to end up in jail. If you want to bail him out then go ahead but I wouldn't keep calling her. In the end if she's just not wanting to deal with it, she may call the police on you for harassing her. You being a female, put yourself in her shoes. No don't go to her house with this because if the situation is already bad for her you showing up knocking on her door may make it worse.

They have phones in jails. By now he probably has called her. Either she can't afford to bail him out, or she doesn't care to. I would advise you not to bail him out. As I recall, he had several bench warrants. That means that he has completely blown off the criminal justice system. Let him sit there until he can work something out on all the matters he has pending against him. The judge and prosecutor will be more sympathetic toward him if he has sat there for a while. They will feel that maybe he has learned his lesson. He had bench warrants, and he's out there driving drunk? He needs to learn a lesson.

I would say back off, she obviously wants nothing to do with her husband otherwise she would have returned your calls. She probably knows he is in jail and plans on leaving him there, if you and your "friends" want to foot the bill for getting hm out go for it but don't expect her to pay anything.

If you want to help, do it.
Call his wife as well. She has a right to know.
You might put this help in the form of his last chance.
Clean up your act or don't call back.

As they said in Animal House, " Drunk and stupid is no way to go through life".

You didn't even tell his wife why yet? Uh... perhaps that why she hasn't called back? Also, it seems as thought your friend's wife cares very little for him... Don't expect her to pay the $1000.

Well, if you feel the need to help by all means go over and knock on her door, she may well be too ashamed to answer your calls or perhaps her line has been disconnected.

I said it before, leave the guy in jail so he can learn from his mistakes. You're not helping him out.

Let his family deal with his problems before they become yours, that doesn't mean you don't care about your friend.
