For most it is, however; the insurance through my employer does not consider it a pre-existing condition, you just have to wait the normal 30 day waiting period all new employees have. Check around, there are a few who won't consider it pre-existing. :)

Pregnancy is not suppose to be a pre-existing. You are only pregnant 9 months.. not a lifetime. But the catch with insurance is that .. do they offer maternity coverage.. if so then you should be covered. I know that some laws have made insurance companies look at pregnancy alot different these days. Call the insurance company and have them give you the guidelines on pregnancy and the coverage facts. Big name insurance companies usually do not have a problem with this.. it is the private insurances that get away with the pre-existing.

for some it is, your best bet is to call the potential insurance company and ask a general question about pregnancy and if it is a pre existing condition.
I started a new job, got hired the day before I found out i was pregnant, the insurance they offered did NOT consider pregnancy to be a pre existing condition, and they covered me from my 3rd month on with no restrictions.
you will obvious;y get conflicting answers from people on here, please call the only people who will actually know, the insurance company.

Actually it can be and cant be considered pre-existing. If you change jobs from one with group insurance to another one with group insurance then it is not pre-existing. If you have no coverage or you go from a private insurance to a group plan then yes it is and you are subject to the waiting period. Here is a link that will explain it better. Hope this helps.

It depends on the insurance company. If you are pregnant and switch insurance companies or are pregnant before the new coverage, some companies will consider it pre-existing.
Your best bet is to call your insurance company and ask about their policies regarding pregnancy coverage.

For me as a new client it was considered a pre-existing condition. To join my husband's insurance plan, it was not a pre-existing condition. Ultimately, I decided to get Medicaid. Go to your local Social Services/Health Department to get information.

it's not technically a pre-existing condition, legally it cannot be. but many insurance companies wont cover big expenses, including pregnancy for a certain period of time, with my husbands old insurance it would not have covered my pregnancy till i was 8 months, but he got a new job right when i found out i was pregnant and it covered everything from the first 30 days on the insurance.
it's like my dental insurance, it wont cover anything big for the first year (wisdom teeth removal, ect.)

It just depends upon your insurance carrier. With my insurance which is Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennesse it wasn't a pre-existing condition and they paid for almost everything

It wasn't with my insurance company and I know it isn't for state supported insurance.
Check out http://www.maternitycard.com/ if you need insurance and your insurer says that it is a pre-existing condition.
Good Luck!

Yes. It's sad, but true. You'd think as much money as these insurance companies make they would accept and cover a pregnancy but nope.
