Hello, I'm on the second week and seeing definite improvement on my yeast infection symptoms:

Note that: If the yeast infection doesn't respond to over the counter treatment, prescription medication will likely be necessary. Similarly, if the symptoms return after two months of being treated, you should contact the doctor for professional treatment rather than resorting again to home treatment.

If this is the first time you have experienced a yeast infection, you should schedule an appointment to have the condition treated by a doctor instead of resorting to home treatment

How do you know that it is a yeast infection?

Presumably you already have tried self treatment or you would not be asking the Q I suggest that you see your doctor for confirmation and if necessary swabs.also it maybe necessary to exclude diabetes.

it would be useful to know your age/on pill/children etc and sexual history More likely to get fungus if pregnant/on pill/diabetic Is there any chance that you have a STD? but think/hope that it is a yeast infection and not any thing else Assuming that it is a fungus infection 1)no bath salts/oils/bubble bath/perfumed soap/vaginal deodorants etc They remove natural protection 2)cotton underwear 3)nystatin cream /pessaries-also cream under foreskin of partner 4)Diflucan-fluconazole by mouth would clear bowel of yeast as bowel can often be a source of reinfection-available over the counter UK

A pap smear only checks for changes in the cervical cells that could be early signs of cancer. Sometimes a doctor will also order an HPV test to be done off of the collected cervical cells also.
In order to test for the infections you mentioned, your doctor will have to collect samples from your vagina with culture swabs. A urine sample may also be used to test for trichinosis.

No, you have to have a different test for that. Ask your gyno.
