Breathing.
The method is much like natural child birth. Breath in deep from your nose ... exhale through your mouth. you can actually blow if needed
Tell the tech that you want the insertion of the needle on the second breath out
I do this but I'm one of those that has to watch the needle go in.
And yes ... you can bring someone to hold your hand ... Just tell them to not tell you a joke, make goofy faces or make you laugh.

The best way is to relax and look the other way.. breathe in and out and dont tense up... if you need to bring someone, bring a family member or a friend who you can talk to so to get your mind out of the thought of the blood test

Had this same problem and I'm studying to be a nurse so its embarrassing. you need to first of all request the most experienced nurse to put your nerves at ease. then bring along a friend who is funny or entertaining to you to distract you and hold your hand. MOST IMPORTANTLY do not look at the process and don't let the nurse tell you when its going in. and while its in i tend to distract myself by humming a tune it makes the time go by faster. also over stressing about it before hand makes you freak even more so just relax before you go in its 5 seconds then its over.

Of course you can. You need to breathe slowly and deeply to control the dizzyness - in through your nose and blow out through your mouth. I hate blood tests, I talk non stop from nerves. Try and think positive, it wont last long and is very quick. But yes take someone with you to help you not think about it

Yes you can bring someone. But you need to grow up. It's a little pinch, if you feel anything at all. Get over it.
