Your cycle starts from the first day of your period and 14 days later is your ovulating time you could ovulate a little earlier than that or a little later than that. Talk to your OB/GYN if you still do not understand

Unprotected sex anytime can result in pregnancy, although the probability of it happening during the period is less than it is mid-cycle. If you don't want to get pregnant, don't take a chance. It only takes a minute to insert a diaphragm or slip on a condom, and those things don't have to ruin the passion of the moment--make them part of the act. There are also many of other birth control methods that you don't have to think about--if you are with a dedicated faithful partner and don't have to be concerned about STDs. The IUD is a great method--ask your doctor. There is more to living than making babies.

Unprotected sex anytime increases your risk of becoming pregnant. Unless you are trying to get pregnant, use protection. My best friend is pregnant with her second baby. She was on her period when she got pregnant this time and last time.
