Alexandra is not too popular for a middle name. It is a wonderful idea to go with something more unique or untraditional as a first name and then have a middle name that has some roots.

I don't think it's TOO popular. I like Alexandra but I hate Alexandria. I see no reason to put an "i" in there. It makes an otherwise nice name tacky and one syllable too long.

I don't think it's too popular, I don't know any young children named Alexandra actually! Plus I like that there are a lot of nickname options if you like - Alex, Allie/Ally, Lexi/Lex, etc.

I think Alexandra is really pretty. You can even call her Alex if you are into that. I know someone whose name is Alexandria and they call her Alex.

She can have myriad nicknames as well:
