Unfortunately it does. Electricity of even a small amount has an electromagnetic field. In a high voltage area, most big businesses use optical cabling (fiber optics) to get around this problem. It may not be feasible or cost effective to do so in your particular case. If possible, obtain the wireless router that has the strongest signal. Then, if using windows, the default setting for transmission is "auto" which means it should be adaptive. If you still have trouble, consider larger antennas or switching to a wired network.

DO NOT disable your wireless security to obtain additional bandwidth! LEAVE IT ON!

Go into router settings and try changing the channel at which the 2.4GHz frequency works on.

it might mess with it a lil bit but should work nonetheless...it in the rarest cases is amplified by the voltage

It could interfere. I had a florescent light that would interfere with my wireless every time it was on.
