I had a similar, na exactly the same problem in my olds cutlas. One day it will not come back to life. Found out after a tow and 150 USD that it was my battery. I've not had a dead car since. Makes you feel kinda dumb when you find out later you could have saved yourself 100 USD and missed day of work. New Battery...look into gettting one.

Everyone is right when they say make sure your battery cables are tight but i'm surpirsded no one mentioned anything about the starter solenoid. These pieces are notorious for going bad and when they are going bad, they will work when they want to.I've watched people that have a bad starter solenoid take a hammer or a stick to beat on the solenoid to get it to kick in.These pieces are cheap and is usually the first to go on a starting system.Your solenoid probably looks like this--

Good luck.

Loose or corroded battery terminals.
Over time scale builds up between the battery posts, and cable terminals and makes a lousy conductor for electricity.

They need to be removed and cleaned.

Check the battery cables. Especially the ground cable.

Fuseable link? or maybe a bad ignition switch or maybe what looks like good battery post connections are truthfully corroded inside...

This happened to my car once and it was the alternator. I would take it to a mechanic to get it checked on.
