I am 22 years old and I can't understand this obsession with drugs & alcohol that young adults have. The definition of partying to my friends has become getting the most drunk possible or getting high. Can't these people have fun without drinking or drugs? So many of my friends tell me the next day that they are hung over and feeling like crap, so why do it? I've gotten drunk once, just to see what it was like, and there wasn't any big difference for me.

As for drugs, haven't these people been paying attention to all the warnings we've been given, especially by former drug addicts NOT to use the stuff? They must be hell-bent on learning the hard way.

I think that most probally start because of peer pressure and the thought that it makes you cool in other peoples eyes but eventually it becomes an addiction. They make it part of thier every day lives and find it little harder each day to stop. Thats when the real problem starts.

It's peer pressure. They want to try it to see what it's like,or evryone else is doing it.I have been through those days when i was in my 20's.People don't think about the dangers of drugs and alcohol. My father is an alcoholic and i see what it has done to him.He has a bleeding ulcer,he's allergic to the hops but still drinks.Alot can happen but people don't realize until it's too late.It causes liver damage, liver failure, jail, and even death if too much consumed.

there could be a few reasons.
1. Peer Pressure
2. The way they were raised (some people are brought up around drugs and and alchol and they think that is normal.)
3. Get away from everything
4. Breaking up with g/f, b/f
5. Death of someone close
6. Bascially just to get away from the world.

In my opinion its the curse of knowledge. When your sick don't you want to take something to make you feel better? Well, its kinda the same with drugs. Once you try them and it feels good, you now know how to make yourself feel better at anytime. That thought is always in the back of your mind telling you that you could be feeling even better right now. And that's all that anyone wants out of life is to feel better and to be happy. It just takes some people awhile to realize that drugs are not going to work for long.

its fun if done responsibly and in moderation. being sober at a party is rather dull no matter how you slice it, the d and a (drugs and alcohol) looses you up and allows ya to throw your inhibitions to the wind. sure theres plenty of fun things to do sober, lots of which are better sober like hang glide, play jeopardy and have sex but partying needs a catalyst sometimes unless your some straight edger then your just psychotic

Alot of people use drugs because of simply peer pressure from their friends that do it under the assumption that it is soooooo cool when in fact it's stupid and can put them 6ft under if their not careful or make them look very old before their time. It's really sad!
