The 454 and the 502 use the same 4" stroke, but the 502 block was designed to be a large bore block. You can't bore a production 454 block far enough to match the 502 bore without getting into the water jackets. The closest you could come without a lot of machine work would be + .100" bore combined with a 4.25" stroke crank. This would be a 505. There are a lot of 454 blocks out there that can be bored .100" without any issues. Personally, I'd get it sonic tested before going that far.

454s can make plenty of power with a stock or 30 over bore. Correct parts selection, compression ratio and fuel are the keys. Plenty of fast 454s out there. The 502 is popular for the drop-in ease with the checkbook crowd. If you don't build your own engines, then just buy the 502 from the dealer, with warranty. If you like doing your own thing, you can build a 454 to run with a 502, for same or less money.

454 = 4.24 bore x 4.00 stroke. 502 = 4.47 bore x 4.00 stroke.
572 = 4. 560 bore x 4.375 stroke. Hope this this helped.
