There are quite a few way to do them.
Most times it seems they're based on bird wings. (Doves) So you can check into that. The biggest thing is what kind of look do you want. You can try and shove as much detail into them as you can or just give hints of feathers and use shading to give them a softer look.
The cool thing is there are a ton of angel pics on the net. find some you like and start doing sketches based on those. Add in some of your own ideas after you get used to the idea and things will be flying in no time. (Wings, flying, Ohhh never mind.)
Good luck

Collect things from nature, like autumn leaves, etc, and draw them in an etherial way to make them look like wings, but not your typical angel wings. Or draw elongated spiral springs, wider at the top and narrower at the bottom and surrounded by stars and stardust. How about drawing just one big feather for each wing, like peacock feathers or something. Not all angel wings need to be made of feathers; that's just some other artist's idea that everyone copies. Perhaps tarnished souls have wings made of junkyard finds. I would do what has already been suggested and go to something like "Yahoo! images" for pictures of angel wings to do take-offs from.

Google or search in yahoo images angel wings, or even fairy wings and you'll get a ton of pics. Get ideas on how you want your wings to look by looking how others have depicted them. Use those images to see how you want certain parts of the wings to look and draw them.
