Where is thest place to find steady work, my husband is 42yrs old and has been looking on the Job Bank as well as the local paper, he has posted ads on Kijiji looking for work and so far the end result is nothing. Potential employers think 42 is too old. It appears to us that the job market is dead here in Ontario. Is it true that there are better paying jobs in Alberta and how would one go about getting a job in another province? My husband is willing to temporarily move to Alberta for employment but he doesn't know how to apply for a job there, especially if he can't get an interview.... Please Help!!!

Depending on his qualifications there is plenty of work in the oil sands in Northern Alberta. Fort McMurray to be exact. Bring up the oil sands project or Ft. Cm. in computer its a start.

You have to be a little bit more specific. what are his qualifications and background? I personally think the best way to get a job with a good company is to walk in right to their human resources office and ask them if they have anything available, or check their website and apply for jobs on-line. But the most important thing is to show a potential employer that you really want the job and that you are qualified for it. 42 years old might be a little bit too old but with age comes the experience!

What kind of work does he do? He could get in touch with the union halls here in Edmonton example the laboures of pipe fitters also go online and hook up with Monster job board. There is alot of work in Alberta his best bet would to be to get a camp job for the time being because rentals are very hard to find and Fort McMurry is very expensive. Good luck to you
