Because the United States was thrust in to a position of "Super Power" after WWII, the United Nations, along with the people of the world became dependant upon the United States to be their "protector" over those who were unable to fight for themselves.
One should see where our directions for world peace and order come from!
Somalia (Black Hawk Down) Mogadishu, is an example of where the United States, under the Bush Administration, attempted to help by supplying food to an undernurished nation.
During Clintons presidency, he continued those efforts however the direction was changed from providing food to protection from one tribal leader who was stealing the food to barter for weapons in order to control the people. This directional change came from the United Nations!
Americans ARE great people and they DO help whenever and wherever they can! We respect those who desire to attain the freedoms and democracies of which enable us to be free in our ways of life!
Hope this helps you understand the position of the United States!

Someone is overlooking the other major players in the supposedly resolved "cold war", namely Russia and China. Add to that certaion religions that think that one man or small group of men have not just the ability (fantasy) but the predestined right (insult) to rule the whole world, and willing to kill an unlimited amount of people, even their own, to achieve this. There are only so much of any kind of resource in the world, and to develope other resources, still requires use of the old ones, and too many people. this always has, and always will, cause wars. No one came into the USA handing out foreign aid or technology, what we have we built and devloped ourselves, or by the immigrants who came here. We have tried to help other peoples of other nations, either by allowing them refuge here or aid overseas, and we are trying to pioneer new technologies such as energy and food production to make them more plentiful, but the weaker the USA becomes, the less able we are to do this, and the philosophies of those who want to rule the world with an iron hand (if the USA's philosophy was not better why do so many want to come here?) will replace ours, if you are fine with that, no problem. We are not destroying peace, those who promote war so they can obtain control have a tighter grip on propaganda machines like the tv news, to make it appear that way, and it's also because the USA has less tolerance for war and agression, so anytime it's military goes into action there will be questions, unless a Pearl Harbor is allowed to happen, but there are protestors even then. After a war is won people get awful silent about their opposition to it.

Destabalizing dictatorships is a good thing. The US both diplomaticaly and militarily have done more to bring peace and prosperity to mankind than any other institution in the history of man. Very nice average Americans agree with this point of view, only self hating liberal idiots see America as evil

Your question is based on a false statement. I do not believe that US is engaged in destroying the peace, the world over.
I am sure that average people all over the world are nice, including the americans, this has nothing to do with politics.
This debate (about US detroys the peace or not) has a meaning only when people comment on the image that media and politicians (from both sides) show on this issue.
But it is absurd to believe that a democratic country (no matter which) wants to destroy peace (how pathetic is that). Each country (each government) follows certain interests (not necesarily bad - it can be in US interest that all nations are rich, for example). One's interest might be in conflict with other's. The fight goes first of all in the image (media).
Who wins the image fight wins the voters. Leftist in Europe for example won the image battle in Germany when the war in Iraq started and Germany did not send troops in Iraq.
Bush is loosing popularity because the war in Iraq is considered more and more a bad thing. He probably lost the battle on the image.

Your views are not correct. America is the best and strongest country in the world. We Have been attacked by Islamic extremist's while we were playing nice with the world. We are righting wrongs that have been allowed to get out of hand. The reason the radicals are fighting so hard is we are undoing 50 years of work . They have been trying to slowly take over the Middle eastern oil supply in order to control the worlds economy. This is larger and more organized than you are led to believe. Our leader has seen ALL of the information. We have not .That is why his moves seem so overblown. It is an appropriate response to the information He has.

I think the America is following its new world order which the think tanks have designed after fall of USSR. Now the only super power in the world is on its way to achieve its targets and that's why they have to do all this. To satisfy their nation they plants fabricated stories like 9/11, so called Alqaida and weapons of mass destruction, Asama and so on. Actually it is a run for capturing the world resources and to grip the challenging economy of China and they can do this Caz of weapons technology and resources.

You shouldn't blame the Americans for all the trouble that's going on in the world!..Poor old America gets the blame for things they've had nothing to do with!..Have a look at the middle east, look at the mess in Africa, try Afghanistan! see whats happening in eastern Europe!..Their all in each others tonsils mate!..Country's run by despots and maniacs hell bent on slaughtering everything and everybody in sight! Mostly in the name of Allah and his infinite mercy!..You win points in Iraq, and arguably in Afghanistan!..But you cant blame Americans for all the lunatics in other country's who are busy mangling and murdering their own people, and others as well in the name of their mad Gods or for pure political power!.Why dont you have a think about it mate?.

YOU ARE WRONG.
prove that we're engaged in war anywhere besides the Middle East.
how do you explain all those riots in France? the Muslim problems in Britain? the attacks by Muslims in Thailand? in Belgium? in the Netherlands? Somalia?
i could continue, but frankly i don't have all day. the warmongers I see are the people trying to spread their religion by any means necessary. you can let them convert you if you want, but not me, i'll go out fighting or die trying.
