Reality is simply your perception of the world around you.

What if you were to wake up tomorrow in a padded cell and someone told you all of the memories and experiences you've ever had were part of some insane delusion... would THAT be real? Would it make this any LESS real?

That aside, I'm the kind of person that doesn't like being told something and asked to believe it without question. I prefer to learn something for myself. If I hear that the weather is cold outside, I go outside to check it out. Standing there I sometimes say "This isn't cold..." and other times I say "Wow! This is freezing." and then there are the time that I say "You know what? I won't bother me if it is or isn't - so it's not worth pausing my DVD." But for the most part I don't just let someone tell me it's cold much like I don't let someone tell me what I'm supposed to believe in or what is "real".

I've bent stainless steel forks into springs (right out of the package) with my hands and not given myself a bruise, I've described the birthday party of the son of a woman I'd never met before... you would call these tricks and be done with them. I would say that your desire to limit your own consciousness is the reality YOU wish to create - my reality is a lot less limited and therefore my mind is not a small.

My question to you would be - have you ever tried and failed time and time again therefore you believe (based on your personal experience) that such things are "rubbish" or do you shape your reality on someone else telling you so?

While I may not understand the concept of E=MC2, and why Einstein spent so much time on it, that doesn't make it any less important or interesting to others in this world. Nor does the concept of contemplating what Car I want on Yahoo Answers.

The fact that majority of the world only concerns itself with using 10% of their Brains, there are the select few here on this General Alternative Area that have sought out to understand what the other 90% that was created is used for. Perhpas it takes far more Patience, wisdom and understanding for you to comprehend....but as I study and grow and Master it - I know that I can make much more out of my life by Utilizing it.

I certainly understand your sentiment! With a good chuckle, however, I have to refer you to "The Dancing WuLi Masters" by Gary Zucov. Quantum physics -- it's certainly REAL enough by all scientific standards, and may just open your mind enough to answer that question. Best wishes!

I suspect it's the human ego believing that it has these mystical powers and that there are these forces that control our destiny. I like to think of it as a philosophy that says if the facts disagree with what you want to believe in, disregard the facts.

How do you define "real"? Is real only what you can see, hear, smell, taste, and touch? Is it only what can be measured by your senses, and mechanical instruments?

Our senses are faulty. We make mistakes in our calculations. Therefore, our instruments are also subject to fault. If my "real" is different than your "real", then who is correct?
