Teachers are forced to teach to the test, because it's directly tied to their meager pay. Once that nonsense is over, they can actually try to educate you.

Recently learned information can be quickly forgotten without repetition. Assigning homework over your extended vacations and weekends insure the teacher won't have to reteach you the previous week's lesson when you return to class.

So that the kids will know how to spell words such as "vacation". Seriously, I don't think all teachers do this, maybe some do. If the homework is frivolous, and you're the parent, schedule a conference and talk to the teacher about it. If you're the student and your parents aren't complaining, "suck it up, Bambi, life's tough all over"!

Many times it is due to not being able to get through the info. If a class does not focus, then the teacher can't get everything taught...

the trend is starting to get away from giving homework in the traditional sense....but if the kids aren't learning in the room then the teacher has no choice

Ah you poor baby! NOT.

Because 'ace' they actually want you to learn something, learn responsibility, how to think and make good choices. Believe it or not homework actually teaches you how to work, how to develop goals, it's just not memory work that as soon as you do the test you forget.

You must be the 'ace' of stupidity if you haven't figured that out.

Teachers are under pressure to meet standards just as you are under pressure to meet their standards. The more pressure the govt puts on them, the more pressure they put on the students.

Well maybe they need to tie up a few subjects that couldn't be finished during the tests.
