that it be treated differently than all other procedures? Until her 18th birthday, a girl needs her parent or guardian's written permission to undergo any medical procedure unless it's a life-threatening emergency. She cannot give legal consent to have her tonsils removed, she cannot legally have a hangnail removed, nor can she get a tattoo or piercing without the express written consent of her parents or guardians. Why then, should abortion stand alone as the one and only exception to this rule?

collateral: can you read? I simply want to know why abortion should be treated differently than any other medical procedure. I guess I should have included pictures for you.

Jefro: I meant exactly what I said. Life-threatening has a definition. It means a condition which has the imminent potential to kill a person. Causing her to feel depressed, etc...does not quite measure up.

Where as I am pro-choice, I disagree with the pro- choice movement that girls under the age of 18 should be able to have abortions without parental consent. I also don not beleive in 3rd trimester abortions and as a Bill Clinton supporter, I was very dissapointed when President Clinton backed it.

I suppose it is due to the fact that pro abortion people have a strong lobby and abortion is a debated issue.
If tatoo supporters for example were as strong in lobby as the abortion ones, if tatoos were an important issue and parties (like the Democrats) would win enough votes on supporting tatoos, I can assure you that tatoos would be in the same position as abortion is: treated differently.
I do not argue if it is good to allow abortion or not, there are a lot of good things that are not allowed and a lot of bad things that are, it is just a matter on public interest on them.

why do we not compare it to any other procedure?
why isnt it the same as removing a tooth?
BECAUSE THE CHOICE OF ABORTION INVOLVES SAVING OR KILLING A LIVING HUMAN.
Thats why it shouldnt be on the same level as any other basic medical procedure. Its not. You need to take that into consideration and not be blind to that point. Because it is a very valid point...
However...
If your under 18, you do need consent from a parent to have an abortion. Your brain isnt considered to be fully developed, therefore you are not allowed to make such life-determining choices. Basic science.

If a woman is brutally raped do you really think that God is going to send the next Einstein in that womb? And oh yes it's possible......but what about a girl who is raped by her step father and becomes pregnant with a child that is 'not as smart as others'? Let's say a woman soldier in Iraq gets raped by ten terrorists........what then? She should be made to have the child b/c her government says aborition is illegal? Please............Why don't people finally just admit to themselves that Aborition should have never made it into the political arena? It's pathethic that people believe one way, but under certain circumstances it's ok.... Let's not forget the wonderful consertative Regan who died of a horrible disease, was extremely adament about how wrong stem cell research was/is...........he dies and who comes to the forefront of wanting stem cell research funded? Nancy. Does that make Nany a biggot? Hell no it doesn't.............People can believe what they want about any aborition rights but the down right truth is just wait until something happens to you and we'll see how you feel. If you choose to mother a child of your rapist then that's your right as a woman. Aborition is a political cast for trying to sway voters just like gay rights and carrying guns. Never forget what makes this country as free as we are........the phrase "Freedom of Religion" is as beautiful as it was the day they wrote it. Freedom of Religion supercedes any act of unwillingness to bow to another's beliefs. Don't you remember why piligrims came here in the first place? To get away from religious tyranny. Once again, aborition should never have been brought to the political arena.

Rick, it's not your problem. Leave people alone. But, that said, I too, worry about parental notification. I can see some vindictive parents demanding their daughters carry the baby to term. I could see some offering support and support with adoption.
So it is a reasonable question in a hypothetical fashion. BUt I do believe folks should leave others to make these decisions.

If these girls could see the procedure and see how the doctors kill those babies on the spot or throw them aside to die, they would never choose to get an abortion. Doctors are murderers not only with abortions but with drugging and starving the elderly and others that can't speak for themselves.

I suppose that you won't die if you wait a couple of years for your hangnail but leave your pregnancy for a few weeks and window of opportunity vanishes. You're only allowed to have an abortion up until a certain time period. After that, yo're not dealing with an embryo but a foetus.
Oh, I meant that if they left it until the kid had the ability to confide in her parents,it would be too late to perform the abortion. Or be pressured into keeping the child.
But I agree with you - it is outrageous.

It's all about getting votes from women .
women can go out and screw around and not have to explain where the big belly came from or name the father.
Both parents are relieved of their responsibility for having started a human life.
Take an organism designed to live in a particular enviroment out of that enviroment ,it will die ( fish out of water ).
The human fetus was designed to live in a protective enviroment until able to live outside of it, we call that enviroment , the womb.

Well in addition to that, there are people that are pro-choice but also believe that if a pregnant woman is killed that the person accused of murder should have 2 TWO charges against them.
I don't get that one either.

Isn't it just LOVELY that the pro killing babies crowd has made it easier for a young girl to kill a baby than have her ears pierced.
They do NOT play by the rules and they change the rules to suit their purpose.
My Clone - I LOVE babies! There's no hate there.
