Why, because she's famous she shouldn't face the same consequences as someone non famous. Even if she is convicted, the odds she'll do jail time ore slim to none.
It's a misdemeanor charge that carries a maximum of 1 yr in jail and a $1000.00 fine. Since she wasn't drunk or stoned, she will probably get probation.
She hit the car in front of her going about 65 miles per hour. Yes it was an accident, however, if she had been paying attention she should have seen traffic was stopped in front of her. They said there's no evidence to prove she was on a cellphone, but for all we know she was looking down and changing her radio station or dialing a call that she never got a chance to connect and hit the woman. Brandy was in her car alone. When you are driving, especially at a high rate of speed, all of your attention needs to be focused on the road in front of you. Yes an accident can happen to anyone, but most of the time they are avoidable if you are watching the road.
Now if a deer or person run in front of you, from out of nowhere, that is a completely different set of circumstances.

From what I've read, it was a freak accident that could have happened to anyone. You're driving along and all of a sudden, BAM!, traffic is at a halt in front of you and you accidentally rear end someone. The report I read said she was not intoxicated or high so that should count for something. It's sad that someone was killed and I agree celebrities should be dealt with the same as average people, but if she weren't a celebrity, would she still be charged?
If someone is driving along with no other cars in front or back, they are sober, and an animal darts out in front of them, or the road is icy or wet and the driver loses control and is killed, who is charged then?
Was Brandy driving an excessive speed and being careless? I think all of that should be taken into consideration. I don't know all the details but that's just my opinion.

Should she not be? Well, she should not be above the law because of her celebrity status. She should be treated the same, prosecuted the same as the average Joe would have been in the sam situation.

Last article I read (yesterday I think) said that the police were looking to charge her with negligent vehicular homocide, which could carry a 1 year sentence in jail and some fine.

Yes. But there should be no more or less enthusiasm for prosecuting her than anyone else in this situation. The sentence should also be equitable.
