I seem to remember an old Bugs Bunny cartoon where a truck load of hats passes over a bridge, the back doors open and the hats blow out.

As they float down and land on Bugs and his partner (Elmer Fudd or Yosemite Sam I think) they become whatever the hat is.

As an example if a policeman's hat is on Bugs he becomes a policeman. If it is a fireman's hat he is a fireman. The same for his partner. This goes on for several hats per character.

What is the name of the cartoon and what DVD collection is it embedded in from Looney Tunes?

That cartoon is called "Bugs' Bonnets," written by Ted Pierce and directed by Chuck Jones in 1956.

Unfortunately, this cartoon is not yet available on DVD. One can only hope that it will be included in a future Warner Bros. Looney Tunes collection set.

However, if you still have a VCR that works and don't want to wait forever to see it, the cartoon is included in the "Warner Brothers Golden Jubilee 24 Karat Collection - Elmer Fudd's Comedy Capers." Click the link below for more info.

I loved that cartoon, too, but I'm having a senior moment and can't remember it right now. It seems like it's "Hats off to Bugs" or some such pun." I don't know where you can find it, but it's not on the Golden Collection.

I can not remember either, but do note that Bugs did cartoons under the Merrie Melodies label for TV and the episode might not be under the Looney Tunes label.
