Simple answer, yes. a guinea pig can be litter trained, but it isn't really necessary. A little newspaper in the bottom of the cage is generally sufficient to gather in the leavings of most guniea pigs.

We have had several Guinea Pigs and we had them in their cage if we weren't interacting with them. I would venture to say you could, but I think you would have to have several places for them to be able to use the litter boxes. They are like a rabbit - they pick a spot and that is where they use and go there 99% of the time. They are great pets to have. Good luck and enjoy!

allright. its difficlut cause some just like to go wherever, whenever they have to. but if your GP has a specific spot, corner, or area, put a tray there. if its in a corner--the better! put a high-back corner litter box there. put some of the soiled bedding there, clean the rest of the cage and check to see if he gets the hint. once he knows to use that, you cant start adding some sort of litter, rabbit litter from yesterdays news (purina) works well. but if he doesnt catch on, you might be sol. good luck!

Some people say they have done it, but I've yet to see proof of it. Why would you want to litter train on anyway? They're not the type of animal that's responsive to that kind of training.

Simple food association training, repetitive training, things like that but nothing more really.
