I have call center background experience. But I would like to get a job as an receptionist. The current position Im working now is an receptionist but is going to be done pretty soon because its a contract position. I enjoy the job very much but would like an office background experience for a receptionist instead. Knowing my position now is not really office background and mainly receptionist desk requires office procedures. im debating if i should just settle for my background experience? can someone help please.. i just don't want a stressful job while im gonna attend college. i dont want to come home thinking about work. what should i do? help..

Do you file? Do you use a computer? Do you use the phone? Can you operate a printer and copier? If so, then you have enough office experience to become a receptionist for a small office. I've been in Admin Asst. for 12 years now- as long as you can use a computer (preferrably Word and Excel), answer a phone and file in numerical and alphabetical order, you should be fine :)

I'm a college student myself. I decided to go back at age 30. I wanted a low stress position as well, so I took my current job eventhough it made less than my previous so that I could concentrate on school. I think that's a wise decision on your part. While interviewing, make sure they can work with your schedule, and don't require short notice overtime...
