House cleaning Maid for 30-50$ a week? Where?

People on here have said that they pay 30-50$ a week for a maid.
I wanted to know where they got the maid, and what she does?
Does she do dishes and laundry? Kitty litter?
Is it through a service like merry maids, or other?

I've had different cleaning services through the years. A housekeeper can be found independent of a service like Merry Maids, and you can negotiate with them to do dishes, laundry, and probably kitty litter. but unless you have a very small apartment or home (like 1-2 bedrooms, 1 bath) you won't get that done for $50 per week. My experience was that Merry Maids will do dishes, but charge separately for that service. All in all, either with a cleaning service or and independent, plan to pay about $10 per person per hour. In other words, a service like Merry Maids might send 4 people to work 2 hours in your home, which will cost $80 total. An individual might charge $10 per hour, but it will take her 5-7 hours to clean your house. Ask friends, and get quotes from the services, and go from there. We have 6 animals, so we pay more due to the amount of dog hair everywhere. Good luck!

I used Merry Maids cleaning service for years. They came every other week. The charge was $54 per visit, with tax.
They only did interior cleaning. No dishes. No laundry. No clean up after pets.
They came out in teams of three and did the whole house in about one hour. Very efficient. But not perfect.

I've never heard of a price quite that low. Most in our area charge between $60-$80 for 5-6 hours of deep cleaning.

Good question. The last one I hired charged $27/hour. She won't be coming back either.
