It depends on how and against whom this person was using it.

I don't know how many agree with my perception of the words, but I see "trailer trash" and "white trash" as underachievers who are poor and don't accomplish anything because of laziness and indifference. Maybe better words would be "failure" and "loser" for such people.

There's nothing shameful about being born poor, but it is if you don't strive for a better life or slip downwards when you could have done more. Tonya Harding is _definitely "trailer trash".

In essence, yes it was a racist comment. However, I'm white and I can see that the people he called white trash really were white trash!

I read on Yahoo's Entertainment News that Jermaine claims that he was quoting someone else in the house when he said that. He says that he would never say such a thing; he was quoting someone else.

To be honest, I don't recall it being said in that way. I'd swear that those were his words when he said that to Shilpa.
