not really, the law constrains what you can do about what's been done to you. you could say the very ability to react at all is freedom but how can it be when the consequences could possibly end your life on someone elses terms.

I don't neccessarily feel "done to."
The circumstances are what they are.
But yes, the measure of freedom is in what we do within our circumstances.
