Do you mean debate? The only real pro I can think of for watching television is that there are some educational things like National Geographic, The History Channel, Animal Planet, etc. Unfortunately, the news channels (CNN, etc.) are often just filled with sensationalism, meaning things are blown way out of proportion to cause pulbic uproar which gets them ratings. Sorry, none of these kinds of channels can really be trusted. Ask a soldier who has fought in this war about his views on what the media says about the war in Iraq in comparison to what has really happened over there. Please don't bring up the point that TV is good to keep kids occupied, that will only be countered with the point that the more hours of TV kids watch, the more likely they are to become obese and have health problems because they learn to follow a sedentary life style (laziness) and mindless eating (think of how many people snack without paying attention to it while they are watching TV: potato chips, peanuts, etc.). This is why childhood obesity is higher in America than in any other part of the world. There are TV programs, however, that teach healthy cooking and some carry exercise programs. Exercise programs can be great for people with kids. They can do a workout in the morning before work when the kids are sleeping and not have to worry about going to the gym. This is great, especially, if the parent is single or there is not another parent there to stay with the kids so he/she can go to a gym. Or, stay at home parents can do a workout during the day when the kids are napping (if they are ever napping at the same time). I would look for channels that are actually educational or useful and make a point that those channels are helpful but that TV watching should still be limited. All those exercise programs don't do any good if you don't get off the couch and do the exercise, right? Good luck!!!!

Do you mean a debate?
If so, and you are on the debating side which is "for" watching TV (as opposed to "against") I would think you would want to base your argument mainly on the educational value of documentaries etc. You can get a lot of info from books, but moving pictures tell a better story.
And I guess it's something to do on a rainy day for some people still!! Though personally I'd rather be out in the rain!

Debate? You should focus on spelling before moving on to things like debate.

if one watches informational channels, it may be potentially helpful to watch television. ex: pbs, cnn, bbc, animal planet, etc.
