Manchester was up against stiff competition from other locations in England for permission to build the Super Casino. Do you think the right decision was made to award this to Manchester? Should the Casino have gone elsewhere - if so why? What benefits or detrimental effects will come in the wake of this decision?

To be honest, I think the whole thing with the casino's is for purely economic reasons. The government are only thinking about cash in the treasury pockets and dont give a damn about the social consequeces of their actions.
If this is New Labour caring for the community, bring back Old Labour !!!!

I work in a casino in Manchester and I don't think the Super casino is a good idea. It should have gone to London, they have the punters to play and it won't affect the other clubs. If it wasn't for the fear of shouts about backhanders, London would have it and by the way, Blackpool, NO.

Building a super casino is a very good idea i think for manchester beacause there will be plenty of jobs available for all sorts of people.The only down side to it is addiction but if you were addicted you would bet anyway somewhere else.Manchester is near enough in the middle of the uk so it appeals to anyone from all over,that was probably why it got decided to be placed there.Good Luck to everyone involved!!

We're getting 2 casinos in Singapore. the Sands from LV and Genting casinos. what is the result? more people gambling and more suicides. that's what i see will happen when its all running. Super Casino's not making it any better. sure they they talk about other entertainments that goes along with the developments of the casinos e.g. water theme park, water world, large theatres and fun for kids etc. but gambling is gambling. what could be worst?

In my opinion the decision to choose Manchester is flawed. Most gun crime hapens in manchester . For that reason alone I would have awarded the decision to another area. Althought Blackpool is to far north for the majority of the people i would have awarded them the decision. This may of helped the area to regenerate and created alot of jobs.

Actually, I'm Northern, and I think its a bad idea, the Millienium Dome should have got it, I mean, they build it for the year 2000, and then from January 1st 2001, it is no longer used!! Lets make that dome useful!! Lets build a casino there!!!

Yes & No It will bring money into Manchester the down side is people may become adicted to gambling.I say Good Luck to them.

Excellent idea......if it had been Liverpool the punters would have been robbed as they got off the bus........this way at least they won't get robbed until they're behind closed doors...... in the casinos.
