Why does an elevator do more work when it carries 10 adult persons up the 10th floor of a building than?

Gravity is not effected by weight. The same as if you drop a heavy weight and a light weight both will hit the floor at the same time. As gravity is not effected by weight the lift has to do the same amount of work regarless of the weight of its pasengers.
