I can admit it, I'm scared of being dead. Not necessarily scared of dying, but being dead. I wondered just what people think is after death. Is it just black? Or do we go somewhere better. Only serious answers please.

My thoughts are as follows:

Whatever you believe will follow after life follows.

If you believe in nothing, then the energy that makes up your being will slowly dissipate away to nothing.

If you believe in heaven and hell, then you will go to whichever is appropriate to your belief.

If you believe you will reincarnate, then you will reincarnate.

If you believe you will return to the godhead, then that's where you're headed.

This doesn't suppose or deny the existence of a god or gods - what the god/gods do is above and beyond what you believe will happen after death.

The mainstream religion that matches my belief most closely is Buddhism, btw

Nothingness, pure and simple, just like before you were conceived. Animals don't know they're going to die; we do, and it is natural to be frightened of something you don't understand. Take solace in the fact that quantum theory (without which we would not have transistors, integrated circuits or modern computers) implies the existance of infinite trillions of probability worlds, each different from this and each other, many containing an almost identical version of you, some of which go on, others are already dead. We experience time as being linear: try to see your life as a movie with many different endings; as it plays from beginning to end, that is you experiencing this particular version of it, but the movie will still always be there, only a slightly different version, or maybe a completely different version will be screening, but they're all you.

Fear not, Edward ! Science has proven a two pound weight loss at the instant of death. So, there is hard evidence that our spirit transcends the decomposition of the body.

Now, where that spirit goes can be determined by you, and you alone. Many compelling testimonies exist of people who have died, and miraculously recovered, only to tell a horrid tale of their experiences in hell. Likewise, testimonies exist of these "temporary tours" of heaven. I would not write them off as folklore. If you research the matter, you will be compelled to take it very seriously.

But why wait 'till death to enjoy heaven? You can have heaven on earth today, simply by inviting Jesus into your heart. I would be priviledegd to help, if you care to send me an email.

God Bless You!

There is nothing to fear about death. Your physical body will die; but "you" will exist in another manner after death. I was always open to the idea of life after death, then last summer I sat alone with a friend and she quietly and calmly told me that my father was with me. (He had been dead for 17 yrs). She knew absolutely nothing about my father. She was a new friend and the subject of my father had never come up. She described him to perfection; and relayed messages from him, to me, concerning events she could not possibly have known about. I have felt his presence often since that day. Death will be an adventure.

How should we know? Only dead people know.
Also, what comes after death may vary from person to person depending on the type of life you lead. If you're leading the kind of life where you're helping others and being kind, then you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

I do admit myself too that the though of dying is scary in itself, but it is just a natural process of passing onto the next dimension from this dimension, as we are born, we come from another dimension to this dimension. Here we grow up, learn things, good and bad and when we pass on to the next dimension we carry these things with us. and as far religion goes, it depends on you what you believe in, how far your knowledge extends and how much do you look into details and knowledge, it is all upto the persons intellect to see what the truth is.

If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior, then Heaven awaits you. If not, then Hell.
