This story was short and told very briefly. I am writing a paper and I need possible suggestions on why this story was told so breifly and how might a longer version been less affective?

The story is brief and to the point. There is no reason it should be longer. he is telling the story of how he doesn't believe in Jesus because Jesus didn't show himself, so instead of waiting to be proven he just lied to himself and everyone else. I love Langston Hughes. The story itself represents a topic that is so huge and in depth in most peoples lives, but without debate about beliefs or rationalization, Hughes simply lays down what he believes and how sad he was that he had to lie to feel accepted.
