just found out this morning i'm pregnant! What are the next steps to take? I made an appointment with my Dr. for next week. But is their anything new I should start? And what should I expect in the weeks to come? I'm 10 days late from my period, so I don't know when I really conceived, or how far along I am.

go to babycenter.com I love going there it tells you when you are approximately due and what the baby is doing and the stage it is at and also what you can expect if that's not enough info for you just google Pregnancy and a whole bunch of things will come up! I am 21 weeks and i love going to these web sites!

Congrats! You will need to start taking folic acid til you get in to the doctor and they put you on a good prenatal vitamin. Folic is rather cheap and you can find it in the vitamin section at most pharmacy's. Make sure it is at least 400 mcg. Also start watching what you eat.. no raw fish, fully cooked meats, be aware of certain cheeses, lower your caffeine intake, try to stop smoking(if you do), limit yourself on chocolates. Start eating 6 small meals a day if possible. Excercise often, no heavy lifting. I wish you the best of luck.. the doctor will give you some things to read as well.
Also you are about 4 wks along.. subtract 7 days from your period start date and add 40 wks and then you will have your due date or really close to it most likely Sept 30th or October 1st. Good luck again!!

CONGRATULATION!!! There's not a whole lot to do at this point. You may want to go to the store and get some over the counter prenatal vitamins. Your doctor will give a prescription for some at your first visit. Other than vitamins, try to avoid caffeine (or limit it to 1 cup of coffee, tea, or soda per day), No alcohol, No raw food (sushi, tasting raw cookie dough, undercooked eggs). Get plenty of rest.

As far as what to expect in the weeks to come, it varies from woman to woman, and pregnancy to pregnancy. You may have morning sickness....carry some crackers with you to relieve and nausea. You may find yourself being tired, so listen to your body. Sleep when you need it (unless you are at work). Your breasts may get tender, but they may not. I would sign up at babycenter.com. THey will send you an email each week telling you what is happening in your body and what is happening to the baby each week. They also have lots of other info. I love getting my emails each week.

Your doctor will tell you when you are due. But you can look online for a pregnancy calculator. If you put in the first day of your last period, it will estimate your due date for you.

Good luck, and enjoy the ride!!

start taking prenatal vitamins, any brand from a store should work.

I think you are about 5 or 6 weeks and 1 day. Count the first week of your last period of week 1 and go to today. That should give you an accurate timing.

Of course, avoid x-rays, alcohol and tobacco and drug use, even over the counter medications unless you clear them with your doctor. It wouldn't hurt to start taking a prenatal vitamin or extra folic acid, either. If you have a cat, get someone else to change the litter box or use gloves and maybe a surgical mask.

Eat right and get enough sleep and be happy! And buy a box of saltines in case of morning sickness.

Setting up prenatal care is one of the most important things, so congrats on getting that done!

For now buy some generic prenatal vitamins at wal mart or walgreens so you can be getting some good nutrients for your baby before you get prescription prenatal vitamins. There are several sites you can go to to calculate when you conceived. Just google search "free pregnancy calculator." Congrats and good luck!

CONGRATS! You made the right step by calling the doctor. The rest is common sense. No drinking, smoking, limit caffeine, start to eat healthy. Go to the book store and see what pregnancy books intrest you. Most of all...ENJOY!
