Iraq isn't even in the top ten list of oil exporting countries, but Iran is the fourth... Why didn't Bush go after Iran then? HMMMMMM?

Iraq does have a large reserve though, but not the largest.

We went there for the chemical & biological weapons of mass destruction. But then it changed to the freedom of Iraq. Sure seems like the people in Africa need our help more than the Iraq's did. But I guess there is no value in Africa.

They didn't go after Iran first as all the generals say it would be a disaster and very painful, and the world community would not have stood for it. Now, with Iraq and Afghanistan taken, we have Iran surrounded, and can provoke them into the Iraq war as Bush says he will attack them if they don't stop helping their fellow Shiites in Iraq. It was a question of strategy, and Iran first would not have worked. Watch out for now though. If youclick on this, http://www.newamericancentury.org/ you will see the PNAC.where you will find that Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Wolfowitz, among others described all this in the 1990's, in a plan to dominate the Persian Gulf now that the Soviets had fallen.
Indeed it is about who controls the oil, and with the addition of Afghanistan to the mix, we can control the new oil pipeline from the Caspian Sea to the Persian Gulf as well.

Not exactly true. Firstly, Iraq would have been a major exporter of oil if it was`nt for sanctions.Secondly, it is in a prime strategic military location, thirdly if they can get the Iraqi people to tow the US line and submit to US dominance it woill pave the way for a veritable aladins cave of business opportunities for US corporations. Fourthly, i believe the war is a show of might by the US in regard to international relations. The US basically flew in the face of wholesale condemnation and ripped Iraq apart because......it could. Nobody has the power to stop the US from doing exactly what it pleases, the war proves the point all too well.

Well Cheney is happy because we have control of Iraq so that means he got his oil. Cheney has gone through scandal after scandal over halliburton which he owns, remember at the State of the Union Address Bush said something about oil and Cheney smirked in the background. We went into Iraq not that we had to but because bush & cheney made an excuse that we get our foreign oil from the middle east and if we attack Iraq we will have control of the oil fields. If we weren't so damn independent on foriegn oil we wouldn't be attacking Iraq and getting rid of Saddam. I think Bush & Cheney are power hungry they want what they Want not what the world wants.

lmao yeah a lot of people are ignorant enough to think the war is over oil and gas etc. it has nothing to do with that. all though the war is the reason for gas prices being so high. but we have quite a large reserve ourselves the government just doesn't want to tap into it even though it would greatly reduce the price of gas. unfortunately this war didn't really have a plan or a rhyme or reason other than to say hey look what we can do! now that there is a plan no one is wanting to have anything to do with it. which sucks for the iraqi civillians and sucks for the troops who have been busting their *** and working hard to rebuild a war torn country. it's scary now because if we're forced to pull out now or to pull out too quickly we're leaving the civillians of the country like sitting ducks which can be dangerous for us. and also if we leave before taking down enough insurgents etc then we run the risk of being attacked here whether it be a terrorist attack or what. i just pray for the state of this country and for the state of iraq.

You reckon Iraq doesn't have the largest reserves? Have a look at this. Of course Iraq was about oil...plus Dubya's ego thinking he could take up where daddy left off.

Of course Iraq isn't in the top ten list of oil exporting countries. We blew up all its infrastructure, remember?

I believe that most of the war now is based on oil, power, or wanting control. Other wise we should have pulled out a long time ago. There is no need for us to be there anymore. If it was for revenge on our country they wouldn't have warned them we were coming and would have blown them off the map. I think we need to finish it and let them deal with there own problems.

The first thing we did was turn the oil fields back to Iraq after the war was won 3 years ago. Why do people keep saying it's for the oil? Gas prices are outrageous here. They need to get a clue.

If it was about oil, The US would control the oil fields when the opposite is tue, they were given to Iraq.
