Hydrogen Chloride (HCl) is a pungent GAS. The HCl molecule is bonded with a covalent bond.

Hydrochloric acid is a corrosive LIQUID. Hydrochloric acid is formed when HCl is dissolved in water which breaks apart the molecule into Hydrogen and Chlorine ions, and forms an aqueous solution of H+ and Cl- ions.

Hydrogen chloride is a gas. Hydrochloric acid is hydrogen chloride gas dissolved in water. The acid is very strong, low pH.ions in solution.The gas is corrosive, covalent bond.
