I found out i had an ovarian cyst when i'd been for my first scan when i was pregnant, it was so attatched to my ovary they had to take the tube ovary and everything out when they removed it. It didn't affect my fertility i've been pregnant twice since.I think pcos affects your fertility anyway so maybe if you voice your concerns they will try to do something to avoid affecting it anymore then is necessary.

I found out i had a large cyst on my right ovary when i collapsed at home - to cut a long story short, the cyst was 16 cm when it was removed and i had to have my right ovary and part of my tube removed too....was told it wouldnt affect fertility and my cycle is normal, as it was before.

Even if you have to have an op like I did, dont stress over it, the docs and surgeons were brilliant and it isnt as scary as it sounds.

Had to wait 6 months after the op before i could exercise and i had about 10 weeks off work.
I'm usually a real weakling when it comes to anything with health (i cry at paper cuts!) so if i could cope with it im sure you'll be fine - i hope i havent scared you!! Hope all goes well for you, tc x

when i was 23 i had bleeding cyst this was very pain full and they put me on the pill after draining it then when i was 26 i had my womb removed due to the lining growing on the out side the gynaecologist then said i had ovarian cyst's but at that age they did not want to remove them but 2 year ago when i was 36 i was in agony all the time and they found that my right ovary had a cyst the size of a lemon on it and the other one was twice the size it was meant to be so at 36 i had to have them removed as well this is something they dint like to do as a will now be on hrt the rest of my life this can cause thinning of the bones in long term use there is so much they can do now without having to remove them good luck and don't worry to much if they have to remove one you can still conceive

I had an ovarian cyst the size of a large grape fruit a few years ago. It was discovered on a scan I had whilst having physio for my pelvic floor after my son was born. It had to be removed along with the ovary and fallopian tube on that side. I have a lovely scar right across my lower tummy. Losing an ovary about halves your fertility.

YES, I've had multiple cysts on my ovaries in the past and I have also been diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome along with Endometriosis. If you have heavy and irregular menstrual periods, as well as severe cramping during your cycle and ovulation you might have endometriosis as well. Be sure to mention this to your doctor if this is the case because Endometriosis is a serious progressive disease a lot of women get that causes excruciating pelvic pain throughout your life.

In my case, I've had cysts that required my ovary to be removed via surgery and I've had large cysts that have gone away on their own. Most women do in fact get ovarian cysts during ovulation that goes away naturally when they have they period. After I've had my first operation to remove a cyst I wanted to get pregnant. I was put on a special medication that you inject into your body (I can't remember the name though). It put my endometriosis into remission long enough for my body to recover enough to get pregnant 6 months later. So even if they surgically remove your ovary you'll still have a good chance at getting pregnant. The new laser surgeries are the least invasive for women and quicker recovery times versus the operation they used to do in my time.

You can still exercise as much as you want as long as you experience no pain with the activity. Sometimes cysts do burst which would be a medical emergency. But this is rare. Your body can usually handle the ovarian cyst with no problem. Good luck!

i have suffered with policystic ovaries for years and from time to time i experience great difficulty with it. In 2000 i had collapsed due to excruciating pain in my right side which after a scan turned out to be a cyst the size of a satsuma. I had it removed and they drilled my ovary at the same time. The cysts covered both ovaries and they told me i would have difficulty in getting pregnant. i did not have a period for 7 months, but i have two kids now, the operation was done under a general anesthetic and it is a laporoscopy , three small incisions which heal very quickly( key hole surgery)
keep taking your meds (tranesamic acid?) and good luck , you will be fine

I had an ovarian cyst the size of a grapefruit, it had to be surgically removed as was the affected ovary. This was 11 years ago and I've had four children since (and I'm pregnant with #5). It has no effect on your fertility.
