Thanks!

Diffusion is based on a concentration gradient.

Osmosis is a form of diffusion that is specific to water.

Basically, diffusion works on the principle of balancing concentration on either side of a semipermeable mebrane. A concentration gradient occurs when the concentration of solutes on either side of the membrane differs... and the solute particles move from high concentration to low concentration. When the solute cannot move (e.g. molecules too large to fit throught space in the membrance) then water molecules will flow instead (osmosis - specialised diffusion).

Everything in the universe tries to find the most energy favourable state - a concentration difference is not the most energetically favourable.

Depends on which type of diffusion u r mentioning. Generally, diffusion is enabled whenever there is a concentration gradient. A difference in concentration between 2 substances of any physical state which are in physical contact will permit diffusion. However, sometimes it takes more than jz mere concentration levels. Sometimes it is based on the need, especially in our body.

Not sure exactly what you are looking for, but naturally occuring membranes, like capillary walls, cell walls etc do, and of course naturally occuring water!
