They won't hurt your baby, they are completely harmless, just uncomfortable and not very pleasant. The worms themselves don't live very long but the problem is that it is very very easy to reinfect yourself. The females come down through the colon to the exit of the anus to lay their eggs at night. If you reingest the eggs you will be reinfected with worms. Some precautions you can take, aside from the obvious hand washing, is to wear underwear at night to prevent you scratching in your sleep and so spreading the eggs. Also keep the bedroom area as clean and dust free as possible as the eggs are extremely tiny and can be inhaled. There is medication available for worms but consult your doctor before you consider taking anything.

Congratulations on being pregnant.

My son had it and Im pregnant , so I was so worried that I would get it because its so easily transfered from one personto the next. I searched online for so many different things on pregnant women, but found that they cant take anything for it. My son was given a couple of pills and so were my other 2 sons just for precaution, but I was told I couldnt take anything at all. I never got it thank goodness, but I did do alot of reading up on it. Just wash your sheets every single day, keep your nails clipped and there are a few things you can find online about things you can eat that will help. I cant think at the moment which sites they were but If I find them I will let you know. Good Luck and Congratulations on the pregnancy.
