Zygotsky -zone of proximal development and scaffolding - about the way children learn.

Two Important Ideas about Thinking from Vygotsky
Scaffolding
If you are familiar with building construction, then chances are, you are familiar with
scaffolding. Scaffolding is the structure built alongside a building when a brand new building is
being built or when a building is being repaired. After the building is completed or the repairs
are made, the scaffolding is removed. In Vygotsky’s view of cognitive development, the adults
or other partners in a child’s world provide scaffolding to help children learn new information
and develop more complex thinking abilities.

I'm not sure if what you are asking. Are you unsure what scaffolding is? Or are you wanting the thiking behind it? I don't recall where the idea came from, probably years of practice, but it is the basic idea of one idea or concept building on another. Once the student can accomplish this one goal, he or she should be able to accomplish the next goal (Which should be more challenging). I think the way my profs taught it was kinda like an inverted pyramid.

Bruner. You help the child and support their learning but gradually withdraw the support.
